Belly Dance:  Good for the Body - Good for the Soul

Suehair

The Instructor

Suehair moved to Central Florida in 2004 from Jacksonville bringing with her 16 years dance and teaching experience.  Suehair began studying belly dancing in 1990.  For 12 years she has taught continuously both in Jacksonville Community Education programs and privately.

As a choreographer, she successfully organized and directed six annual student dance recitals and was the artistic director of Troupe Altair located in Jacksonville Beach, Florida.  She is now the troupe director of the first and only belly dance troupe (Suehair’s Caravan and Troupe Altair) in DeLand, FL.  As a professional dancer, Suehair had the opportunity to dance at various art festivals, charitable events, clubs, wedding and haflas.  Her professionalism extends to her current troupe members and they performed on parties and events as well.  As a costume designer, she designs and handmade ALL her costumes as well as her troupe costumes.  Suehair’s costume design was featured on the cover of the Jareeda magazine in 2002.  She had also written and published several articles for the Jareeda magazine.  Costuming workshops are offered once a year in her studio (see Events page).  As a master instructor, she focuses on dance technique and movements.  She will teach isolation, the ability to move rarely used muscles separately and at the same time develop excellent posture and soften your movements, making it more feminine and gentle.  In 2006, Suehair opened the first and only full-time belly dance school in the heart of downtown DeLand.  She offers all level of belly dance classes (techniques, basic beginners to advance) and has added three highly trained instructors, Calista (her granddaughter), Eden and Aymelek.

Regularly attending dance seminars around the country to expand her knowledge of ethnic dances and to learn new teaching methods, Suehair has studied with nationally recognized Masters of the Dance, including Cassandra, Morocco, Tarik Sultan, Amaya, Bert Balladine, Dahlena, Dalia Carella, Artemis, Kathryn Ferguson, Elena Lentini, Eva Cernik, Kamaal, Judeen, Azmara, Fahtiem, Aziz, Raffa, Amel Tafsout, Jim Boz, Amir Thaleb, Virginia, Frederique David and Egyptian choreographers Mahmoud Reda, Dr. Mo Geddawi and many others.
